While I was writing Post Mortem, I was walking the golf course every morning. If you’ll remember how I took y’all on a walk a while back and it was really dark in the morning? That was when I was writing this novel in the Mail Carrier Cozy Mystery.
It was the surroundings that made me think to use a golf course. On my morning walks, I have met all the people who work at the golf course. It’s so funny because they are out there using their equipment to dry the dew off the greens and I’m formulating a killing!
When I’m writing, my kids know that if they want to see me they have to come to the house. Jack had come over during writing Post Mortem and I had the above piece of paper on the table.
My kids have really never taken a good look at what I do. As we all know, most kids, well my kids, are pretty deep into their life. I understand! But they really don’t know my process or really how I work. All they know is that I type on a computer a few hours a day.
Jack picked up this piece of paper and he said, “do you make notes on scrap paper?”
Yep! If you turned this over, it’s a receipt from the grocery store where I had come up with the final moment we find out who the killer is. . . only it didn’t turn out this way in the final copy. I guess this could’ve been an alternate ending, but I’ll just leave it here for now.
Have you read Post Mortem? Do you see any of the plot written on the piece of paper?
This is Helen! She looks like she’s enjoying her copy!
I seem like such an extrovert and I really kinda am, but deep down in the heart of me, I’m a total introvert. I literally could live in the woods and not see a soul and be happy.
Truth is, I don’t have a lot of close friends. I have three friends I talk to. Literally. Now, I am super close to my family. My sister is the complete opposite. She loves to be surrounded by her hundreds of friends.
I’m so out of touch that I don’t even check text messages. I am not big on carrying around my phone. The people who are close to me know that if they need me, they need to call me.
I do love to connect with readers and probably because we talk about books. Now, I could talk about that all day long.
So last weekend and a couple days this week, Rowena and I headed to the camper to stay for a few alone days. She slept in all the places. She got to see a lot of the deer that roam our property and she loved hearing the birds.
We had a really nice rain storm one day and while I wrote, she snuggled up next to the window and purred.
And I also did binge watch the show Alone on my ipad on the Amazon Prime Video. OMG! Have y’all seen that show? EECK!
I have to say that I also did a few sneak peeks at the builders handy work on the house.
What about y’all? Do you need to get away sometimes?
A couple of weekends ago Eddy and I took shamper camper.
We decided to get a campsite on lake which is about an hour and twenty minutes away from home.
I knew I wanted to take some time that weekend to make some recipes over the campfire for the upcoming books. It was a perfect weekend to make chili and I ended using my cast iron skillet over the fire for it too! I’ve attached a photo of the recipe and the link will take you to the recipe to download as well.
The recipe I have can be used for over the fire or stove top. I hope you enjoy this exclusive recipe that’s in the EGGNOGS, EXTORTION, & EVERGREENS!
And let me know if you make it! A picture would be even better!! Happy Wednesday!
