YAY! This week’s Tonya Kappes cozy mystery books on sale are Address for Murder and Betting off Dead!

Mail Carrier Bernadette Butler makes sure she checks on all of her elderly customers on her mail carrier route during the colder months. It makes her feel good and lets face it, she’s trying to keep her mind off the feelings she’s having for her deceased husband’s best friend, Mac Tabor. Which makes putting everyone before her is easy.

Until she notices one particular customer’s dog is on the loose, Bernadette takes the dog back and something isn’t right. The door is open. Bernadette goes in to check on her customer only to find him murdered!

Bernadette knows someone knows something about the murder in the small knit community. Now that she’s help solve one murder, she can’t resist to try her hand at it again…of course not without the help of the FRONT PORCH LADIES and Vince!

Betting Off Dead is in honor of the Kentucky Derby. Boy, this year’s Derby didn’t go without problems….right? Well, neither does this book!

A Killer Coffee Recipe: Dog Treats!

Peanut Butter Dog Treats

(I made these for Charlie since he couldn’t have salt. I use low sodium peanut butter and he loved these.)

• 2 cups whole wheat flour
• 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/3 cup smooth peanut butter
• 1 cup skim milk, or 1 cup hot water (NOT BOILING WATER)

• 1 egg, this is optional you do not have to include it. The egg makes a dog’s coat shiny (I did not include the egg in the treats I gave to my puppy)

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Line a cookie sheet with tin foil or parchment paper and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl combine the whole wheat flour and the baking powder.
Then, in the same mixing bowl add the milk, or hot water, and peanut butter.
Carefully mix the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients. If the dough is too dry add a little more milk or water, or if it is too wet add an additional tablespoon of flour until it is not too wet.

Place dough on counter and roll it out with a rolling pin, or flatten the dough out with your hands.
Use dog bone cookie cutters and cut the dough into various size dog biscuits. Place cut out dog bones on cookie sheet. Leave space between the bones on the cookie sheet because they will spread slightly and rise.
If the dough gets too sticky while you are cutting out the bones sprinkle it with flour and it will decrease the stickiness.

Once all the dough is cut up bake the bones for twenty minutes at 375 degrees. The bones should be light brown when done. Allow the bones to cool before giving one to your puppy!

Hi-do! Good morning! Welcome to The Bean Hive. I’m Bunny Bowowski.

You can grab a regular coffee from the coffee bar or a tea. But you look like you want one of them fancy drinks like a latte, or one of them caramel macchiato. You know, they are filled with sugar. Don’t take my word for it. I’m just an employee that’s making those Killer Lattes, ummm, Star Studded Lattes since Lemon Productions is here filming a movie.

But I bet you’re here to check out all the noise about the #killerlatte. I mean, really. Just because that Hollywood actress, Daisy Lemon, came in here to get a Star Studded Latte but was kidnapped in the process, doesn’t make it a #killerlatte.

But you’d have to ask Roxanne Bloom, Roxy if you know her, about any sort of particulars. She was the one who seen Daisy last. I probably shouldn’t tell you this, but she’s asked me to look after the coffee house while she headed down to the police station.

Mmmhmmm. Now I did hear the ransom note was accompanied by a photo of Daisy. She was dripping in diamonds. And not just any diamonds. All the diamond jewels used in the movie. I bet that’s got to be heavy around her neck.

I heard Low-retta Bebe. . .huh? Oh! You don’t know Loretta. We call her Low-retta because when she says her name, her southern accent, well, you know what I mean.

Anyways, Low-retta owns Diamond’s downtown and she offered all her jewels for the production company to use while they were filming. Daisy Lemon had all them on. Ain’t that strange?

Oh no…the police didn’t leak the photo. Maxine Bloom did. She’s got her sneaky ways to getting things. She write Sticky Situation, the gossip column in the Honey Springs Newspaper. But claims she’d doing a piece for People and she got her hands on the kidnapper photo.

Now that’s just hearsay because I ain’t seen the photo.

I’ve rattled on enough. You enjoy your Killer Latte, I mean. . .you know what I mean. Y’all come on back. Remember that around these parts, the gossip is just as hot as the coffee. Toodles!
